About the Project
I decided this year would be a year of fantasy. I have a few Age of Sigmar minis and these will be my starting point to create my own little world using the Dragon Rampant ruleset.

Ready for the hunt
I rescued these via ebay. They were in a bad way so got dipped and stripped in Dettol
Cloak – Base V Dark Blue Grey Tunic – Base AP Field Grey Skin – Base AP Bondi Blue Boots – Base CT Dark Reaper Bow – Base AP Cloak Grey Armour – Base CT Leadbelcher Leather – Base AP Soft Leather Quiver – Base CT Fenris Grey Arrow Shafts – AP Matt Black Fletchings – Base AP Arid Earth Hair – Base – AP Spaceship Exterior
The cloak had an AP Dark Tone wash and the rest AP Strong Tone. After the washes, everything was repainted with the original base colour. Apart from the armour which was highlighted with CT Mithril Silver everything else was highlighted with the base colour mixed with a touch of AP Arid Earth. A final watered down wash of AP Strong Tone was then applied all over. They were based as previously mentioned but I now use AP Spaceship Exterior instead of Wool. They were then finally varnished with Instar Matt Varnish+.
The Quiet Ones
Known to the Khalisan as the Shivnekh. Their real name is ancient and known only to them. Unlike many in the Khalisan’s great horde they are not part of any conquered peoples. In fact the Shivnekh offered their skills to the Khalisan. Not for financial gain but to be part of the great expansion. They are not entirely trusted by the Khalisam. Nor should they be. Their reasons to be involved are their own and lay much deeper than conquest alone.
First Steps
I want my colour scheme based on those of Tibetan Monks. Deep red and bright yellows/oranges.
Tunics – GW Red Gore
Lanyard – GW Macaharius Solar Orange
Skin – AP Mix of Tanned Flesh and Soft Leather
Armour – GW Tinbitz
Weapons – GW Leadbelcher
Strapping – AP Soft Leather
AP Dark Tone over all armour and weapons
AP Strong Tone over the rest
The Monks of Aguu Burged
The monks thought that they could ignore the machinations of the world outside of their mountain monasteries. However the Khalisan could not ignore them as it was their will to conquer all. They tried to assault the monasteries through the narrow mountain passes but the monks were skilled in defensive warfare and held them off. So a vast siege was put in place to starve them out. The Khalisan’s scouts secretltly climbed the steep cliffs and set alight the monks food stores. The starving monks eventually submitted. The Khalisan agreed to let them continue their worship in return for the supply of manpower. They form a light infantry contingent. Not the most aggressive but strong in defence and useful for holding a flank.
Slow Progress
Hobby time has been limited over the last month but have finally got these finished. Basing next then onto the stuff that has been sat in a dettol bath for a month.
In the jungle, the mighty jungle
I just used the base colour again to paint over the raised areas and then a final highlight. Then a final watered down wash of AP Strong Tone and GW Lahmian medium to pull it all together.
I can see clearly now the rain has gone
Not the rain but my dad gave me a pair of cheap supermarket specs and it has made so much difference. All based painted using the same palette as below apart from the lion for which I used an old pot of Iyanden Darksun for the skin. They were washed with a mix of AP Strong Tone and GW Lahmian medium.
Test pieces done
Finished the first three and established my colour palette for the rest.
Base layer and wash
I’ve used alot of old paint on these. The skin is GW Scorched Brown. The wrappings AP Unbleached Wool. The clothing AP Soft Leather. The fur GW Graveyard Earth. The bone weapons AP Spear Brown. All other bone and teeth GW Bleached Bone. Badge GW Brazen Brass and the belts AP Matt Black. Then a final AP Strong Tone wash.
The third tribe
The Khalisan found the Uzegch hard to subdue. They would not fight large encounters and preferred guerilla tactics disappearing to their hidden cities. This worked for many years until a tortured prisoner revealed the location of their capital Daldkhot. The Khalisan unleashed the Tsus on the city and their resistance broke. The Uzegch warriors now form a light infantry role moving quickly unleashing a flurry of ranged weapons before committing into combat.
Some more Tsus
Better pictures of finished Tsus warriors
Finished the Tsus
Before battle groups of the Tsus are taken by the Khalisan and starved. They are then heavily armoured up and pointed towards the enemy. Known as the Taslagch they smash the enemies front ranks allowing the rest of the Tsus warriors to pour through to start the killing frenzy.
It has been a while
I have not had much hobby time in the last couple of months due to work and family commitments but have finally finished these.
The next tribe. The Tsus
The Tsus are cannibals and lust for human flesh. The Khalisan conquered them early in their expansion and now use them as their attack dogs. The Tsus that have eaten too much flesh go mad but gain abnormal strength so the Khalisan armour them up to lead the assault.
I’ve had these Khorne minis hanging around for ages so thought they would make an ideal addition to the maurading tribes. I want them to look different but retain some links to the Khalisan. I’m going to do this by keeping the brass theme in the armour indicating that the Khalisan provide it.
First tribe finished
I finally finished them. I used a little Nihilake Oxide on the bronze to weather it up a bit. I wanted a desert base so used a base of Leather Brown followed by Armageddon Dunes. This was washed with Stronge Tone and dry brushed with Iyanden Darksun and Wool.
