About the Project
I meant to get started with Crisis Protocol next but…I got a game of this played and wow did we have fun! So, I’m going to tackle this in stages. It’s a long term project and I’ll likely bounce around to other things. Otherwise this would be the only thing I did for…a year? Longer? Oh well, here goes.

Infernal Warriors and Hounds
Back in the realm of batch painting. Can’t say it’s my favorite thing to do but it does make cranking through numbers of minis easier. Used a different flesh recipe this time and it turned out decent—not too unrealistic but it does stand out from the regular humans. I used purple tones rather then red/brown for these. The only issue is that it’s even harder to photograph accurately.
Now onto the remaining 6 monsters (2 centaurs, hydra, Medusa, Cerberus, and Minotaur) to finish the core box. I made the mistake of opening the stretch goal box yesterday and nearly cried. Then I remembered this isn’t a job and the point isn’t to get everything done. I will likely take a break from MB after I get the core box done until I’ve played enough games with just those forces to start to want greater variety.
Minotaur
A bit of a muddle in the color scheme for this guy. I mixed my regular skin recipe with the necrotic/purple tones I used on the infernal troops and threw in a grey dry brush and a brown wash. Tried to get some contrast between the skin and the fur, though I imagine him to be covered in hair most everywhere. You can probably see the result best in the last pic.
now to finish up core box painting with Cerberus and then to batch base everything.
Cerberus
My fire/glowing blending needs improvement but overall, I’m pleased with this.
Now to work on the bases.
Done!
Sand + PVA, then a base paint layer of Vallejo Smoke, then drybrushed with a few tans and browns. Painted the cork rocks, threw a few tufts here and there and the bases, and thereby finished the core box. Definitely going to take a break from this for a bit and focus on playing.
Thanks for all the fish!
All told this has been an productive spring clean for me: Crisis Protocol all painted up, two forces for Infinity ready to go when I find someone else who wants to learn the game, and Mythic Battles core box all ready to crush some skulls.
Thanks to the OTT folks for setting it up and for everyone else who has looked at projects, commented, and/or posted your own work. It’s been an excellent way to keep the motivation up.
Pillars & Trees
Not sure whether these were in he core box or not but I had forgotten about them and they are used on almost every map so I’m counting them.
Trees:

- Airbrushed Vallejo 71.040 burnt umber
- Painted stone with Vallejo 70.994 Dark Grey
- Dry brushed stone with Vallejo 70.986 Deck Tan
- Painted in accents
Pillars:
- Primed with Army Painter Skeleton Bone
- Agrax Earthshade over their entirety
- First dry brush with Vallejo 72.034 Bone White
- Second dry brush with Vallejo 70.986 Deck Tan
Poseidon & done
Since I last posted I passed my whole Mythic Battles onto a friend. He graciously let me paint up Poseidon as my final mini from the collection (I’d been looking forward to painting such a unique and interesting sculpt.
I had fun dialing the OSL up a bit higher than I have in past. I was pleased with the result though the experience made me think again about putting actual LEDs into the lamps.
I’ll try and get a battle report up when next/if we get this to the table but otherwise this project is finally complete.
