Leg prep.
Started the prep on the very many parts that make up the legs!
Magnetising the hips/torso joint.
Drilling 20mm wide by 10mm deep for the magnets I’ve got. Used what’s called a Forstner drill bit in a pillar drill. As it uses a flat cutting edge, it give you a level bore hole in the base. Which should mean more contact area for the glue as the magnets have will have a silly amount of pull on them.
Sunfury Plasma Annihilator Assembly
Prepped and started assembly on the plasma cannon. Magnetised the joint so I can swap it to left or right arm depending on the loadout. Definitely the favourite looking warlord gun.
Macro Gatling Blaster
Gatling blaster prepped and assembled. Leaving the armour plates off to paint separately.
Starting with the head.
Head was fairly simple to assemble. Has a very detailed interior. Had to heat the pipes hanging on the bottom to give them a better fit. Also used liquid greenstuff to fill any gaps in the joints I wasn’t happy with. I prefer liquid greenstuff to the regular stuff because it’s very easy to sand/file back on flat surfaces. Only issue with it is, it dries by evaporation so you get shrinkage, so you have to do multiple fillings.
Parts list.
Well here’s the parts list. It’s even worse than it looks ? sooooo many parts.
Starting the Warlord.
First job was to check through the hundreds of pieces and check everything was there. Which it was. Unfortunately one part was snapped on the volcano cannon and there was some rough casting on the gun shield as well. I could fix it, but I shouldn’t have to. Will be getting those replaced by Forgeworld. Premium price should equate to premium finish, so never worry about having a moan!
Leviathan Dreadnought
Been a long while since posting. Finally got a Leviathan, definitely my favourite dreadnought. All the arms and weapons are magnetised. So I can swap the storm cannon out for a drill.
Blackshields 30K
Starting a Blackshields allied force to go with my Mechanicum, so thought I’d make use of a ton of khorne bezerker sprues I had in storage. Just have to remove all the khorne symbols and do head swaps.
Cleaning the masses.
While I had the sonic out, thought I’d get all the cleaning done on a few of the FW kits. Death Korp of Krieg plasma turret, two solar auxilia lasrifle sections and three Vorax.
Macrocarid Explorator Cleaning/Assembly
Another OOP kit from FW. Wish I’d picked up more than just the one! Did my usual sonic cleaner wash on all the parts followed by a soak. Some parts are quite heavy, so had to break out the rubber bands as I’d run out of super glue activator.
Minotaurs Contemptor
Always liked this style of dreadnought, plenty of options for posing. Surprised it took me this long to get one!
Solar Auxilia
A kit I picked up just before it was discontinued. It’s got some absolutely gorgeous details. The injured soldier on the tracked gurney even has a separate part for his leg that was chopped off.
