About the Project

It’s time to finally get this game painted. While The Godfather is only loosely involved (it’s really just a gangster theme), it’s a solid game with some really nice art by Karl Kopinski.

I’m not sure how much you all can tell the difference between the minis in the image with the orange background. However, I’m taking some things that I think worked well in my Hellboy project and applying them here: more extreme shadows, black outlines, more extreme highlights, and edge highlighting. Really, it just boils down to my being a bit bolder.

I keep thinking I’m turning up the shadows and highlights to 11 but when I’m done these end up looking pretty chill. I am pleased with the sense of depth I’m getting but I seem to lack boldness. Don Marsullo, with his undershirt, suspenders, and shotgun may be my favorite mini in the box—although the severed horse head is a close second. While there are still two families to go, this means I have the three I need for game night tonight. It was a close game with much bloodshed in the final act (as can be seen from all the bodies in the Hudson River). In the end, the Matarazzo Family came out on top. They’re a bit fancier than the rest, with aspirations of sartorial grandeur. This can be seen in the don’s pinstripes and the two-tone shoes hat he and his son wear. Dandies. The sweater that the consigliere is wearing was…well maybe not fun to paint but…I’m pleased with the outcome. This completes the game! The sweater that the consigliere is wearing was…well maybe not fun to paint but…I’m pleased with the outcome. This completes the game!
