About the Project

A few years ago I started a Medieval army with the aim of playing Lion's Rampart but I relocated and in my current gaming club no one plays Medieval historical. So I decided to Spring Clean the army into a fantasy one. This is mainly because there are several members looking at playing Saga; Fantasy and I've decided to join in. I've painted two units when I originally started this army approximately 4 years ago and didn't get any further. I then added the artillery unit about a year ago since then I've done nothing. As it's going to be fantasy based I've added a few fantasy miniatures to the army such as the Brettonian Sorceress, who will act as my mage.

These have been sat on a shelf unfinished for some time, well a year to be precise. So I dusted them off and decided to get some paint on them. It didn’t take too long to give them a quick and dirty looking paint job.

This project has basically slowed again, mainly because I’m not playing any large scale fantasy rules at the moment, though some of these miniatures will get used in Lion Rampart games. This has meant I’ve not been in too much of a rush to get this army finished. I’ve been wain laid by other projects.

I have also now added a giant into the army, this miniature is from a D&D board game.I picked up three different ones at UKGE last year for £3 each.  I found him quite easy to paint up and he fits in nicely to the army.

I started the second unit of infantry after finishing the archers. This squad of men at arms should be finished next weekend, though I will be at UKGE so that may delay finishing them off.

I’ve also started painting a unit leader for my hand gunners, he’s an old GW Empire miniature from a limited edition pack of duelists. He’s mostly been painted using washes on a white undercoat.

so last night I began painting the undercoated archers.  The bases are done with poly filler and will be painted to look like mud, and then I’ll add some tuffs.

So this originally started life as a historical medieval army roughly 4 years ago and never got beyond the painted miniatures you can see in the pictures below.

The painted minis need tidying up and in some cases basing.

I have two units built and undercoated ready to go, and some unbuilt miniatures/units.

I also have a GW Brettonian Lord on horseback armed with an axe but I need to locate him in one of my boxes.

There are some bits and pieces that need building as well, which includes a unit of panther (big cat) cavalry a friend gave me from Mantic .

I took the pics quite quickly on the phone and will get better images as I start painting
