About the Project

Working on creating an "Aliens Themed" Astra Militarum Kill Team. Kitbashing some Scions, Guardsmen, and the heads of Age of Sigmar Sequitors. I also used Secret Weapons bases to get the Alien hive look including some of the objective markers.

As this project progresses and my enjoyment for this hobby increases. I decided to add an objective marker that defiantly mirrors the asthetics of an Aliens themed force. Low and behold, here she is; Newt!

With Commanders having been released this past weekend, I found out that my Ripley conversion wasn’t valid and I found that the Tempestor Prime more favorable of a Kill Team Commander. I removed the Plasma pistol and the powerfist to replace them with gear more inclined for a Tempestor Prime. I changed out the powerfist for a power sword and the plasma pistol for a Command Rod. Both bits I still had on a sprue. All in all I am happy that the Commisar Lasko did not go to waste.

I even had time to somewhat do some painting done. still a long way from finished, but its getting there. I also purchases a diamond pattern polystyrene sheet to create bases for the Fuels cans and munitions containers that came with my Kill Team Scion box set. I’m pretty pleased on how they turned out.

Above this, you’ll find the terrain that came from the Astra Militarum kill team box set. In my honest opinion these Kill Team box set saves you a ton of money so you can buy some more GW products down the road. Its a pretty decent pricing model.

The build is pretty straight forward, quick, and painless. Only if you follow the directions that is for sure. I had painted it up to continue the gritty world that is Aliens. However I did not magnetize the doors due to my impatience when it comes to building and painting in the hobby.

I added some blue OSL on some of the lighting locations. Then added some rust and mud effects for each piece. I saw someone actually made some palettes, I might consider that. I’ll start posting the rest of my Colonial Marines soon. Below is my Commander, Commissar Ellen Ripley.

So I decided to go off of my plan to be strictly by the book with the characters from Aliens. Its week 4 of the Kill Team Campaign I am in and with Commander Expansion releasing this Saturday, I  started working on my Warhammer 40,000 version of Ellen Ripley. I kit bashed this piece using parts primarily from the plastic Commisar you get from the Scion’s start collecting box set.

I had figured that I would go this route because I’ll be getting the same Commisar model anyways from the Commander Expansion. Commisar Ripley has a few parts from the Cadian and Catachan Command Squad sprues. The head is from a female Sequitor from the quick snap fit kit. Her power first came from the Tactical Squad box set. I hope I did her Justice and now I just wait for the rules to arrive.

Started sharing two weeks into the project.

Although I have started on this project last week. I thought I’d share with you what I have done so far. Half of my Kill Team roster has been completed and waiting to finish off my objective markers. Yes those are Xenomorph Eggs.

I decided to take the Eggs a step further today and applied some hot glue to try to simulate slime.
