About the Project
Before the Horus Heresy; before the suppression of Olympia, the Emperor tasked Perturabo with scouring the Hrud from the Sak'trada Deeps. It was a thankless and deadly campaign to seize the infested warrens of a near worthless system from an ancient, parasitic Xenos. The campaign is perfectly suited to the Space Hulk system (with maybe a bit of D&D Boardgame map randomness thrown in.) The Iron Warriors Adeptus Astartes must purge the pestilent Hrud from their lightless warrens, their escaping space craft, and the continent sized hulks of nests and caverns breaking away from infested planets. The Iron Warriors will be represented by the full army lists for the Great Crusade and the Age of Darkness, while the Hrud will require some rules modifications and additions to represent reduced close combat abilities, the ranged warp-plasma Hrud fusils, and their ability to warp time and space, and prematurely age their adversaries. The Iron Warriors will have rules for stasis Field generators to counteract the Hrud entropic fields. Of course, Hrud models do not exist. The Genestealers could stand in for the Hrud "space rats" or Skaven or Mantic Veer-Myn could fill the role as well. However, since the Hrud arms and legs resemble and act more like mammalian spinal assemblies, we might need to develop card standees. Perhaps the standee flatness could represent the time-space warping (or not.) The existing scenarios should work with the new participants and more, including random map generation to represent the dark and twisting warrens of the rat-like Xenos. More to come on this.

Iron Warriors figures
The “Burning of Prospero” has the right number of Mk III Astartes and Tartaros Terminators to suit this campaign. With any luck GW will reprint it. In this photo, you will also notice some FW bits and a marine of a later generation.
More paint to follow.
