About the Project
After a flood of kickstarter miniature games arrived I realized just how many starter sets for different game systems I have unpainted. In many cases I've been playing with them for years but the time has come to add some love and colour to these models that I've bought.

More Chaos Reavers!
So I picked up a box of Chaos Reavers and put them together with 2 handed axes. I hate the “All Khorne must be red!” idea. I really liked the fact that the World Eaters Pre-Heresy colours were red, white and blue so I tried something similar. I quite like the results.
Mordheim and more Warhammer Quest
So as I dig through my collections I find models that I have no recollection of buying. Realising that I had several gaps in the Mordheim and WHQ range I went looking and found I’d stored them away for another day. Box opened, paint applied…… Still a few to go. Found a Bretonnian foot knight and a Highway man…
Sigmar Vult!
After watching Vikings latest season I had a thing for Warrior Priests and I had quite a few just begging for a touch of paint. Having recently completed the Empire Noble from Warhammer Quest I toyed around with an Empire Noble on horseback. Turned out pretty good, well good enough.
Dusting off the Tomb Kings!
I spent so much money on armies I’ll never get to play with because I’m a sucker for GW hobby porn. Khemri fell into that basket. I decided to resurrect them only to find I’d placed them on stylized square resin bases. Rather than waste time and effort on rebasing, I went with what was already there. The result was I couldn’t be bothered spending heaps of effort painting around the models feet. I started with the big stuff first. I giant and 3 units of 6 Ushabti. Took about a week and whilst it’s not my best stuff, I’m calling them done.
Dark Age Irish saga
I intended to take photos from beginning to end. Next thing you know I was spraying them in varnish. Am I the only person that says “I’ll just do a small force of ……” only to find they end up with hundreds of models? This started as a 4 point Saga warband because I was given 4 blisters of Crusader miniatures Irish.
No wonder I never finish anything……
That's when I went berserk!
I have hundreds of Vikings. I did a test model which became 8. I’ll come back to them.
Well Ulricy then.
I’ve been AoS curious for a while now. I did some Khorne Blood Warriors a couple of months back and wanted someone for them to fight. The rule was they had to have snowy bases.
The tragedy here is that I tried them on rounds to begin with. Troops like these look best ranked up and ranking up troops on round bases sucks as they like they are all in loose order. Also, all snow bases look to stark. towards the end I had a few Mordheim models from the Middenheim gang. I put a bushes on those and realized I may have to continue throughout the army.
I must be Bats!
I’m almost finished with Warhammer Quest 1st Ed. Just rats and spiders to go now. The miniatures are very cartoony and lack a lot of detail but the nostalgia value is super high. I don’t waste a lot of time painting models from these era as it rarely pays off.
Trolling the Nightvault
I love the Shadespire/Nightvault game. The models are next level and when I look back at my Warhammer Quest 1st Ed models……. 24 years is clearly a long time in the miniatures industry.
I might give Magore’s fiends a lick of paint next.
Does this armour make my Axe look big?
Not sure if this colour scheme works. Going to tidy it up and hope for the best. Like my Blood Reavers I don’t like the ‘Khorne is red’ mentality. Although I’m sure after a battle these guys would be….
Oh and then I’ll do the Orks
Chaos and Orcs
So I stuck with that paint scheme for the Chaos Warriors. Personally I think it looks great although white would be completely impractical for followers of Khorne.
The Orcs however will get into combat that little bit faster with red armour. Chipped and tarnished it still looks great!
Next, the Mighty Khorne Lord!
More Song of Ice and Fire
So I’ve done some more GoT stuff. 2 more units of Stark Swordsmen, 1 more unit of Berserkers and a bunch of Stark characters.
Oh, and the iconic Throne of Swords.
Adeptus Custodes
I finally got around to painting these guys from the Burning of Prospero box set. Quite honestly they are about as successful protecting the Emperor as the various Kings-guard are in GoT.
Ahh Rats!
So I spent less than an hour on these, time well spent as they’ll be used in a Warhammer Quest game this weekend.
For Averland!
I have many, many unpainted miniatures. Recently I dusted off some 5th Ed Warhammer Empire models. I’ve decided to paint half in Averland colours (yellow and black) and half Reikland (red and white).
I also wanted to time the project. I did a test model (the swordsman) in about an hour. Sure enough a regiment of 20 handgunners took 20 hours in total. I’m going to look into this further. There’s heaps of painting tutorials but I never see anyone saying how long it takes to go from sprue to finished.
Nightvault.
Damn it! I really need to post more regularly. I recently finished a whole bunch of Roman Dwarves, Sigmarines, some scenery and a massive Stark and Lannister army for Song of Ice and Fice. Then for no concievable reason what so ever I started painting undead. And the Iron Throne….
I'm back Baby, I'm back!
Took a little break from painting to play a few sessions of D&D. Started some undead needed for the campaign. That became a lot of undead. That morphed into some characters, who morphed into Zombicide Black Plague and Massive Darkness characters. I regret nothing…..
More Zombicidal Darkness and some Chaos
So I finished off the characters from the Massive Darkness and Zombicide Black Plague game sets and added a couple of Chaos heroes from AoS to my every growing Chaos army
A little more chaos, a touch of faith and a whole lot of magic
So I haven’t been idle, just to lazy to post as I go.
I did a couple more chaos heroes (Wulfric has been begging to be painted for several editions now).
I did a forge world warrior priest of Sigmar.
And a bunch of wizards that have been collecting dust for 10+ (maybe even 20+ for some of them) years. The older models look very cartoony? these days, but they are incredibly easy to paint.
Blackstone Fortress
I’m powering through Blackstone Fortress. I love the models so much that I prefer painting them to playing, and that’s despite it being a really good game. Looking forward to adding the expansions.!
