About the Project
There has been a recent upsurge in Epic 40k here in the Netherlands which tempted me to try some 3d printing using files I found on thingyverse. Suffice to say things escalated a bit.

Something diferent
Been a while since I updated this project. There has been a fellow on the Epic facebook group doing some amazing work on Eldar vehicles in 3d so I decided to give them a shot.
Walkers big and small
From a big walker to the smales, my own CAD work and prints this time, all the way besides being a obvious copy of GW design ofcourse.
In the grey
A quick print and prime to see how this one looks in the resin, so to speak, still needs some print lines anded away and its too large, nearly the same height as my warhound! Still on the right track I feel, might do the errant knight variant tomorow maybe.
Something on the horizon
A while back somebody asked me if I was going to do other armies, now there is a whole list of armies I’d be interested in, but most would require a large amount of printing and CAD work before that, I darn well know I currently don’t have the budget or time for that, that’s why I spend most of yesterday doing this:
Griffon Heavy Mortar Carrier
Another unit upgrade like the hellhounds, these can be added to most companies. I must say I was surprised to find they are armoured vehicles and not light vehicles (which can be targeted by anti-infantry weapons) tough their armour save is only 6+ Still at 50pts total 3 of these can drop a template on enemy formations up to 30cm away, or 60 in indirect fire. I’m not convinced of their usefulness yet, but they filled in a 50 point gap in my list for now. And I do quite like the models, it adds to the massed artillery feel I like for imperial guard!
Autocannon print
Sometimes even 6mm tanks aren’t small enough for me! Nah actually I wanted to have some support squads for my infantry, and also to test out my new scheme for infantry. (based on standard cadian scheme) Quite happy with how the print for the autocannon came out, infantry from dark realm’s, now defunct IIRC>
Plowing on
In order to add some variety to my models I decided to design and print some of those plows imperial vehicles often have.
Fire and flame
Bit of firepower today, some far range and some up close. Hellhound flame tanks and basilisk SPGs.
School run
You gotta get that infantry moved safely somehow
Can’t say I immensely enjoy army painting half a dozen IFV’s like this but they be done. Though I do now realize I will probably need 3 more to transport the support squads and snipers I would like to attach to the formation.
next up probably my last mayor prints for this faction until I’ve painted more, I have printed 7 more Leman Russ tanks, including 4 mars pattern ones for variety. Luckily since my first tank prints Mkhand uploaded alternative designs for pretty much all russ turrets, including two alternative vanquisher turrets, so I replaced the old one with the big bell on the end with something a bit more reasonable.
Assuming I can get myself to paint all this I might end up printing 3 more hulls sans sponsons, for the conqueror and executioner variants (I think those are the ones) and some tank destroyer and thumper variants as well should I wish to play as a tank legion. But first let’s paint these 10!
Reach out and etc...
Something tank company is coming this way I think, but for today I have something that provides a bit of reach.
The barrels on these are just wedged in there, since I am planning to make a medusa variant barrel soon.
I’m also testing a infantry autocannon design right now, so I can re-base my infantry with a bit more accurate weaponry. Especially for support squads this should get me a long way I think, using the left over engineer and spotter models I still have.
time to light it up!
For today’s progress (and its coming daily, tomorrows stuff is already printing) we have 3 hellhounds fresh of the priming, and the first camo scheme test! I’m trying to go classic IG camo scheme on these, I quite like the result, its a bit involved to be doing 30-40 tanks in but lets see how far I get with batch painting these.
what to print, how to paint?
With my printer churning away while I work, I’m beginning to build a small force already. Of course I did end up going for all the shiny things first, so I will need to put in some work to make this a field able army, but here is what I have now.
So, my question to everybody reading this are these:
1. what colour scheme shall I go for? I feel in 6mm a brighter scheme is needed or else the model will somewhat disappear on the tabletop. But you can still do a bright camo scheme.
2. What should I print next to turn this into a viable playable force? Nearly any imperial guard units I can find files for, and those I can not I could make myself without to much trouble. However I’ve never played Epic armagedon, so I’m not sure what would make a fun balanced army to play.
On from there.
I really need to start painting, any suggestions for camo schemes for the tanks would be appreciated! Since I took the last pictures I’ve printed:
-3 chimera
-2 deathstrikes
-2 hydra
-2 more super heavies
-all the weapon to make the SH’s stormswords, stormblades or shadowswords. I needed some heavy flamer turrets and sensors for this so I did a quick CAD of them, hardly any details but they look decent at this scale.
Tank tank tank
With the super heavy turning out quite well I gave some russes a try, very happy with how these turned out, lots of turret options for them as well though I’m not sold on the muzzle break on the longer barrel.
A big start
In the beginning… I wanted to try and print the epic war-hound titan found on thingyverse, that went pretty well and I couldn’t stop myself printing a shadowsword while painting the titan.
