The Black Dragon of Wallachia
A standing icon and its importance
Along with the litter/palanquin I thought to throw in Blessed Paul of Wallachia as an icon on a banner. Going into the history of the region it seems that he was a Christian martyr from the 13th century that had died at the hands of the Cumans.
Thinking there might be some more to work with here I will set about to design an icon from scratch as I haven’t seen anything in English language searches to offer help. This also might be interesting to pull in Cumans warriors as well since, on cursory look, they were a nomadic Turkic people which had quite the unique armor.
Perhaps I might be able to do something like a cross pollination of using figures in their famous armor as a unit akin to the Immortals of Persian fame. *shrug* From the models I’ve seen from Scorpha Miniatures I could do the cavalry as Cuman riders as well and/or have a specialty lieutenant for a Great Kingdoms list.
I’m glad to be able to let my head off it’s leash a little not too dissimilar from the King of the Moon in the film The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (played by the uncredited Robin Williams).
