Wee Castle at the Big Castle – A Breath of Fresh Air

With the help of my friend Claire, I managed to take my wrecked knees (don’t take up commercial archaeology as a job) and the Peel Tower model I built for last year’s TerrainFest as well as a selection of my painted Reivers, Gallowglass and Blackadder and friends out to the Peel Tower at Castle Semple Loch near Lochwinnoch for a wee photo shoot.

My Peel Tower model is an attempt to reconstruct the ruins of the Castle Semple Loch Tower and it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in that part of Scotland. You get to it from a nature trail at the RSPB Centre at Lochwinnoch (where there’s parking) and then over a newly constructed wooden boardwalk which takes you over part of the loch.
