Dark shadows of the Middle Kingdom
Beastly additions
The legends of China aren’t really complete without Journey to the West and the addition of Sun Wukong. Here I’ve gotten him on his famous cloud and will field him as a flying option.
Horseface and Ox-head, Chinese psychopomps (guides for the dead), fall into place for the army as a pair of bipedal beasts options. Scotia Grendel has just the minotaur sculptures needed for this. With only a head swap required the effort for conversion is going to be minimal.
A Celtic monster from Alternative Armies has just the right kind of wild look necessary for my army concept. Keeping the model intact and using a DIY silicone mold material from GSW I will be able to get a duplicate of just the head. Analog kitbashing is still a viable option for those willing to put in the effort.
If you have an Asian army you need a dragon. Yes, it’s cliché but I’d do the same for a medieval European army. Not having a great amount of thought here my brain latched onto the comic character Fin Fang Foom. Honestly, it was either that or go with my other immediate thought of the muppet mascot for Chinese food in the late 70s early 80s. There are quite a number of options out there but I’ll be sticking with the standing metal model I found with the rest of the Dragon Kingdoms range.
