The Great Grey Massacre.
A Test of Skill Continued.
I broke this up into multiple posts lest it become an incoherent wall of text. I painted the old 90s Joseph Bugman model using predominantly traditional techniques. Apart from the beard, boots, beer, wood and parts of the shield it was all a case of Base, shade and highlight (drybrush or edge highlight and both), Lining in and picking out small details. I wanted to test myself to see how much I had improved and how much I had learned and was capable of. I am extremely proud of the results. I certainly never thought I could paint to that level.
Particular points of pride would be picking out the tankards. The glowing Rune on his axe and his armour.
The whole thing is significantly caveated by the time it took to paint. 3 and a half weeks and over a page and a half of A4 steps. This is not sustainable. At 40 over weight and with a fulltime job and other hobbies painting to this level regularly isn’t practical. That being the case my next mini was a compromise between the traditional and the speed paints.
Due to the amount of steps I have included PDFs of the stages and paints used.
