Ok, maybe more like 2 weeks ago in a local hobby store.

But anyway, I was recently commissioned to paint the Shatterpoint starter set for someone. Now, I’ve never even watched the movies. Science fiction doesn’t do it for me. I don’t understand it, and I’m not entirely keen on the general aesthetic of it all. In general, I prefer the sweeping robes and soaring towers of the fantasy genre. But I took the commission gladly, and I was excited for the challenge to paint something entirely different to that which I would normally work on.

At first look, I have to say, I was impressed with the minis. They had the exact right amount of detail for me – enough to make really interesting models without being ridiculous to paint. The lightsabers some of them have were a bit terrifying though. Incredibly fragile.

The first models I painted were the droids (I’ll apologise now for getting the names of these things wrong throughout the project). Figured I’d start simple and work up. The customer had requested them painted true to the box art, so much printing of reference photos ensued.
