Resolution 2023: Race Against Raging Heroes
Fionn Mac Cumhaill
I thought this model would be a good one to try painting tartan on for the first time. Although it fitted the theme, I soon realised that the clothes are far too wavy and painting tartan (or any other pattern) would be difficult. Never the less I tried it anyway.
The skin was painted bugman’s glow, washed reikland fleshshade, then highlighted cadian fleshtone followed by kislev flesh.
The hair was painted jokaero orange then washed fuegan orange.
The iron areas were painted leadbelcher, washed nuln oil then highlighted ironbreaker followed by runefang steel.
The brass was painted screaming bell, washed reikland fleshshade, then highlighted hashut copper followed by sycorax bronze.
The red strips of cloth were painted mephiston red, washed carroburg crimson then highlighted evil sunz scarlet.
The clothes were painted castellan green, washed athonian cammoshade then highlighted straken green followed by nurgling green.
To paint the tartan cloak I first took a 1:1 mix of balow brown and castellan green and painted thick horizontal and vertical stripes. Where these overlapped I applied a coat on top of a 3:1 mix.
Then I prepared a 1:1 mix of trollslayer orange and castellan green and painted thinner horizontal and vertical lines in between the previously painted lines. Where these lines crossed a I applied pure trollslayer orange.
