Well ive picked up some Ridge Walkers and i sat down to discover im missing my guitar strings and my plastic glue…..

So rather than be moody and sulk i thought it best to plan the army out. I’m doing 1k because frankly i dont have the time, nor patience to play 2k games anymore. The 9th edition stupid rules burn out is real.

However a fun little force to play mates in the woods (Yeah i get to game in a viking village with attached cowboy town in the SE of england) i reckon i can do something fun.

Of course we dont have lists yet so im using 9th to create a vague list.

Chaos makes sense, even if once looking at it i discovered it certainly wont be optimal for what i want.

The idea is ‘The Changebringers’ i could do the chaos chicken god, but they dont have bikes so i wont. Instead i will do regular chaos marines even if their rules seem a bit meh. Also 25% of the army will be daemons, because i want swarms of white monoliths that appear out of nowhere in a spooky way.

Leading the force, a chaos wizard marine. It makes sense with the theme, and chaos should have wizards. I will figure out the mini for this later.

A squad of chaos marines and a squad of accursed cultists. A body guard for the wizard and some changed victims.

Mini’s again im not sure as i dont want the usual baroque chaos vibe. I may use Primaris with head swaps and the changed can be anything. although i may just step outside the GW ecosphere for this.

For anti vehicle duty a pair of hell brutes. Obviously one with twin fists and the other with power scourge. Sure guns would be smarter, but the minis will look cooler. I may switch up one to have belly las cannons?  Also distraction carnifex is a good distraction. I may cannibalise some war dog kits for these or use mechanicus robots, i think the war dogs will look more interesting and allow for more conversions, also they will fit better with the ‘bikers’

Fast attack, a pair of squads of chaos bikers with melta. This is what im using the ridge walkers for, also the reason for wanting war dogs for the hell brutes because of the similar look. Im not going to have the riders and im going to drill them out and add wire tendrils.

So the chaos marine part will be

Chaos Marine Wizard
10 Chaos Marines
8 Acursed
2 Hellbrutes
2 x 4 Bikers

Now the daemons.

I want white monoliths and maybe other geometric shapes for my daemons. Looking at the daemons i could use horrors look right. squads of blue horrors. They look like they will all have deep strike so ‘suddenly appearing’ on objectives and firing of bolts of pew pew feels right. Also splitting into other shapes like fractal recursions seems on point. Plus they will probably, as troops, have solid obsec numbers.

3 x squads of blue horrors.

So thats the list. Now where in the name of all things cool are my glue and wire……

Lets talk tactics?

the bikers push objectives and hunt high value targets, the hell brutes running after them to make target selection harder. Once they have pushed the horrors drop to secure and act as pew pew tar pits.

The accursed are there to push harder with one of the Hellbrutes and the marines and wizard can secure a home objective and are punchy enough to hold against light and medium troops; and you never know maybe the space wizard (not from the moon0 might have some defensive tech? certainly the strat that’s been shown will work well to keep them safe.

Its also a mobile force with some solid reaction pieces. Is it going to be super competitive? no idea, doubt it and really that’s not why i play these days.
