Hi everyone,

This year I want to work on my atrophied painting skills, and there is no way better than taking the deep dive into showcase miniature painting.  Now, I have never been a competitive painter, nor have I won any awards, but I do enjoy taking my time and painting a model up to my best abilities.

So I have started with a very old 54mm Andrea miniature called ‘The Barbarian II’. It is certainly over 20 years old for sure and I have had it for nearly that long as well.  I also have the first iteration (The Barbarian), but it is mostly skin and I find that much harder.

I started with the base.  Cleaning it and putting it together.

The next step was to find a base from my stash and test fit it.

Once I was satisfied with the fit I assembled everything and added some body and texture with milliput.  I also gave it the first base coat and masked the base to protect it from the painting process.

Finally, I painted the whole thing up.  The whole process only took me an afternoon.  To be honest I could have gone much faster, but I watched all three Conan movies while I very lazily went about it.

The base is finally done.  I left the tape on because I forgot to take it off at this point.

That is all for  now.  I hope to finish the Conan model by Friday, but because I am very undisciplined, I have already started another project in the meantime and now I have to mange both!

Until next time, farewell and stay safe.
