Making Some Use Of The Things That I Find
Magnetic tokens for marking wounds, nerve, pins etc.
About a month ago I picked up some white wooden hearts (60 pack) and wooden numbers (150) for half price in the Works (UK). They were £1.50 and £1 respectively. My plan was to use them as wound/nerve/pin tokens.
I bought a pack of A4 magnetic sheets off the internet and drew round some of the hearts I was going to use as tokens before cutting them out with scissors. The reason I drew round then cut rather than just holding the heart and cutting round with a knife was that I didn’t want the sheet flush, figuring a lip on the heart would make it easier to pick up. The cut out magnetic sheet was then glued to the heart using UHU All Purpose Adhesive.
I already had a tin of Rust-oleum Magnetic Chalkboard Paint from the Range (UK) and that was applied in 2 coats to the back of the wooden numbers. Note that the paint is not magnetic it just contains metal.
And that’s it. Of course the numbers or hearts could be painted, but I think the black and white will stand out on the battlefield without distracting from the look of the game. I might do some magnetic labels that can be attached to the hearts in the future with magic items and/or unit names.
