The Great Grey Massacre.
Arachnophobia.
I hate spiders since I got bitten by one in the garden as a child and it stung like a wasp sting. Many is the time in my old flat I would dress up like the Ghostbusters and armed with a vacuum a stout rolling pin and a can of raid to hunt the giant greasy monsters that infested that place.
However Rangers of Shadow Deep requires spiders and nest trees so I had to oblige. A year or two before Covid I bought some cheap toys of Amazon which had a good amount of detail. They then sat in a draw until I plucked up the courage to have a pop. I struggled to get a glue that would discreetly glue them to a stick to paint them but resorted to skewering them on push pins.
I nicked I think Black Magic Crafts Modgepodge and Black Paint mix to prime them then had a play with drybrushing and ink washing. As well as using contrast paints as heavy washes. I then gave then a varnish of Vallejo matt.
The bases I made from foam board and sculptamould. Foam clay and woodland Scenics rock mould to make the rocks. For the web I dried out baby wipes. Pulled them apart then used watered down PVA to stick them in place.
