The Great Grey Massacre.
A few random bits.
I was inspired a while ago by Warren and some others discussing incidental terrain pieces and how they make a table come to life. At that point I was just getting back into the hobby and was working from Citadels how to make Wargames Terrain and my memories of the stylised but at times somewhat sparse terrain of the 90s. The discussion really resonated with me and I started to look at more detailed bits as seen in earlier projects.
The roadside shrines are from 4Ground. They were a simple enough kit and I had a play with more drybrushing on the bases. I was also rather taken with the style of roof tile which coincided with me watching a Gerry Can on using a Corrugator.
A year later I found this Buddha statue in B&M for a couple of quid. I had been keeping my eye out for things like this having seen some terrain pictures and a lot of pictures of Japan itself. It was painted grey with some basic weathering but I had a big experiment on heavily drybrushing and ink washing it. I then used some foam flock and a light stipple with green near the base to add an aged look to it.
