So I’ve met the mentioned “month” deadline and how close am I to starting? Well the plan is next weekend quite frankly I’m insanely close to beginning this and opening this blog up for you all to see, it’s kind of weird writing a blog no-one can see yet but I wanted it to open with the backstory and what led me here to give people an idea of how much work had gone into this rather than it seeming like a random last minute decition.

So Friday I had the day off work and I spent part of that day going to a local-ish woodworking store to grab the last ‘needs’ I had. I spent the better part of $290 dollarydoo’s on Woodglue, clamps, a pocket hole kit and a few smaller items, its insane how quickly these things add up but a lot of today’s $300 was made up for things that most woodworkers wouldn’t have needed, I’ve got the experiance to try this but a lot of what I had done was with friends so I didnt have some of these basics or more accurately in the case of the clamps, not enough.

My next entry would be the first load of wood and the beginning of the project as well as this becoming public.

The purchases

  • Titebond II Premium Woodworking Glye 3.785ltr – $64
  • Glubot
  • Milescraft Pocket Hole Jig300 Kit – $125
    • Includes Jig300
    • Face Clamp
    • 2x 14G 64mm Pocket Hole Screws (100 in total)
  • Milescraft Drillblock – $13.90
  • Pony Jorgensen Light Duty E-Z Hold Trigger Clamp (4 pack) – $34.90
    • I actually grabbed the wrong pack and didn’t realise till I got home but the one I grab still works and its not actually upsetting. Has 2 larger and 2 smaller where I wanted them all the same size)

Now all of the above pricing was at the time of purchase, the 4 pack clamps were on special (and honestly you can always use more clamps). The last thing I would need at this stage is some larger pipe clamps for the tabletop glue up but I left those because, carrying those on a motorbike just simply wouldnt have been safe.
