I’m going to start by saying although I have been building miniatures for years I hardly ever scratch build so I thought I would give it a try, any advice/wisdom you can offer would be most welcome.

For this project I has inspired by picking up these miniatures below which some of you of a certain vintage will recognise. For those of you who aren’t these are the crew from classic 80’s Sci-Fi show on the BBC Blakes 7. I plan to use these in stargrave, 5 parsecs or 7TV or anything else these might fit into.

I thought I would have a go at making the fight deck from the liberator, to this end I got some plans off ebay from the fan club and some plasticard and set to work.

Below are the tools I’ve assembled for this mission, in the first image is the usual suspects, pin vise, clippers, tweezers, pencil, ruler (there is a bigger one as well) craft knife, an Ofla Acrylic cutter and a file.

In the second image the cutters on the left are conduit cutters which hold a stanley knife blade and is quite good at making straight cuts which are shorter than the length of the blade. The angle guide on it has a gap underneath it so is not that great for thin plasticard but its a visual guide if nothing else.

The tool on the right is a nail drill machine, with variable speed and different bits which are held with friction in the tool. This is it below:
