"Platoon" - Oriskany Jim's Wargamer's Historical Review
Oriskany Jim takes another try at a military historical film review. The subject this time is the Academy Award winning classic “Platoon.”
Of course the movie was iconic from a film perspective. But how accurate is it really? And more importantly, what can you use in the movie as a basline for accurate wargames and hobby?
Great review. And just in time for the Oscars – I guess you’ve already received your invite to the big event?
Oh, they’d never have me at that f***in’ thing.
And if they did invite me, I wouldn’t go. 😀 😀 😀
Not nearly politically correct enough.
a great film revue video Jim your comments on the commanders of the unit remind me of my opinions of the supervisors of half places I’ve worked in over the years Lol.
Yeah, @zorg – I get the feeling Stone was in a shit platoon … or heard about bad experiences in other platoons or companies. He never claimed that everything in the movie happened to him, but iot’s a collection of his experiences and others he heard about in other units. This is why I feel it’s an amalgamation of “all the bad things” into a single platoon.
I did go to film school and this film is near perfect in that respect too.
Nice. One of these days we should collaborate on a film review. 😀
I’d be up for that, I’ve always felt that my opinions need to be heard.
