When starting a big project, I find it’s best to start with something small so first up is the biggest model in the Ratkin army the Scudku-Z’luk, Demonspawn of Diew.
I didn’t remember to take pictures until I had already started painting (I will get better at this I promise, maybe).
Here is the first picture

For my Ratkin army I am using red as the main colour. All the armour is going to be red using citadel contrast blood angels red.
The skin I chose a light grey as a base.
The wings I decided should be bold so I went for Vallejo game color electric blue.

Next was the sword.  I wanted to try something that I had never done before, a rust effect.  I painted the blade with Army painter plate mail metal and then used the rust method detailed by Angel GiraldeZ in https://youtu.be/FiJtv4guVR8

All skulls, horns and nails were painted with Vallejo buff, then drybrushed with white followed by a light wash with Army painter strong tone.
I then followed the method for glowing eyes by Sam Lenz https://youtu.be/aOCaK3H-EmM for all skulls and the model’s eyes.

Finally the base was done using Gerry’s method from a previous Gerry can, using bird sand and pigment powder.

Loved painting this beast.  Hope the rest of the army can live up to it.
