Let’s start with identifying the challenges I have :

  • the big mountain of plastic, metal and resin also known as ‘pile of opportunity’
  • I enjoy collecting/reading (and playing) more than one system
  • every system has its own army lists, unit cards and rules
  • some of my collection exists in the digital realm (= PDF files, images, etc)

An easy way out is to simply grab a piece of paper and start writing things. Someone with not so fancy handwriting skills might grab a spreadsheet and use that. And others might decide to turn this spreadsheet into an website like so :

To me it is a bit too basic and I can’t download my data should I need to.
It’s possible that these are features that are going to be added, but overall it isn’t the improvement over a basic spreadsheet that would suit my needs.

Besides … I can write code, so why not make something myself to suit my needs ?
I’ve rediscovered my love for writing code and I found some really interesting techniques to learn.
