Gameplay Stream Playback - China vs. US - AirWar C21 - 2028 Taiwan
Good afternoon: Here is the gameplay stream playback video, where myself and Bernhard sat down for a game of AirWar C21 by Wessex Games. The scenario was another chapter in our ongoing “Red Dragon” setting, where we imagine a Chinese conventional forces invasion of Taiwan in 2028.
Might be a fun listen while hobbying for painting. We breeze over the setting, set up is already complete, and first movement is already resolved. We get right into the thick of it with some point-blank gunplay and missile launches.
The game includes F-22A Raptors of teh USAF, F-35C Lightnings of the US Navy, pitted against J-20 “Mighty Dragons” amd J-11 “Flanker Ls” of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force.
Hope you like it!
nice one Jim I’m surprised that they are still designing aircraft with no guns ?
I won’t lie @zorg – it surprised me too. I felt compelled to check a couple defense journals to re-re-re-verify the fact. Perhaps they will change it in future variants. The J-20 has a big airframe, but automatic aircraft guns and their ammo load are very large and heavy, it’s not like adding a new machine gun atop the turret of a tank. So who knows? I’ll say this much, it hurt in the game … once I got too close to Bernhard’s F-22 Raptors, I couldn’t engage with him at all. I had to slow down to match his… Read more »
It like the phantom has returned to haunt their air force probably a fanatical decision to reduce the price of the aircraft?
Not sure, @zorg . The whole J-20 “Mighty Dragon” thing reminds me of the MiG-25 and later MiG-31 variants. She’s LOOKS like a high-speed, high-altitude, long-range interceptor, using long-range missiles to engage incoming enemy bombers (US, Russian, or Indian). This was the MiG-25’s role (when the Soviets THOUGHT we were developing the XB-70 supersonic bomber). If memory serves, the MiG-25 didn’t initially have a cannon, the later MiG-31 variant may have – I can’t remember off hand. I can only assume the Chinese are thinking of specialized roles for specialized aircraft. If true (and it’s just my guess), the J-20… Read more »
possibly an they will redesign upgrades for future problems as they occur Jim like every other country?
