Defiance
Rise of the remotes
Corvus belli is not being my friend just now. They are getting me down with the whole plastics thing. After a bit of ignoring the world they sent samples to youtubers and influencers. What a great decision I thought, still not going to buy what they say. I would rather trust my own eyes and have them in hand. They *chose to send* substandard models. I would save asked for my money back or replacements from CB if I was sent these. You had the perfect opportunity to hand pick your samples… You picked samples with defects and sent these out instead… Needless to say I am now more concerned then ever over the longevity over a rule system and the quality of the products I chose to buy in the future.
This has also had a surprising effect in me painting a self contained game with the best metal models on the market. I have lost my mojo a little. Where once there was joy, now lives despair, uncertainty and unease.
So that above is just an excuse for not getting loads painted. I did however get the remotes painted. I did hear something I think it may have even been on OTT about these just being 3d tokens. ALL OF WARGAMING IS 3D TOKENS!!!! Yes they deserve their sculpts and I do like them. Much more of a pain in the arse to paint than I thought, but I always underestimate how much painting these little guys will take.
So that’s it for this salty update. Next up will be the Taigha Creatures if I can bring myself to paint them.
More to come, probably.
These all look excellent! Has rather taken away my enthusiasm to even start mine 🙂
sorry wasn’t supposed to be infectious. Get em started!
Still waiting for my full pledge to arrive but this is a tonic 🙂 Great work as usual! I should probably be more impressed by other parts of the project but the texturing on Rahman’s trousers is just aces. Regarding your concerns about the new plastics, have you had a chance to have a go with them? I’ve seen a few vids on youtube and the experience with the new plastics appears to be mixed. I do think it may help with the price of their larger minis going forward though. Looks like they might be angling to make bigger… Read more »
Thanks! I was sent a sample by a friend but not of what CB have done, just of the SioCast and something they have tested out. Pricing is a thing, but I spend so much on this stuff already I would just have to budget for that. I do hope this is only for S4+ infinity models though From the sample I had I can’t imagine this could be used for ultra fine parts of CB sculpts as it’s not very structurally sound. The Megalodron is made of plastic but this is more like the plastic that was used in… Read more »
No problem at all on the length of your response, I appreciate your effort 🙂 It did take them a while to make their kits easier to assemble. Some of the old kits with separate antennae were pretty annoying. It also took them a while to produce easier to assemble parts and I think part of the change came from working with Chinese casters on A!. I guess I’m more hopeful their experience with products like A! will help them get this working reasonably quickly. That said I’ve not tried the material so I can’t say if it’s fundamentally flawed… Read more »
Just to put some of your mind at ease. The material and process itself can hold the detail. The issue at the moment seems to be it is not 100% the same restraints that metal has and it may cause more complex parts to be split off of the main bodies. I was not concerned about smaller models being produced in the material until I seen the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMPesJfxFs4 CB put out to try and calm down the community. if anything it made things worse in my mind. But it did show a live evolution with an already improved mould… Read more »
