Playing around with Terrain (it’s been a while)

It’s been quite a while since my last look at Stargrave as I’ve been busy with other games. I haven’t even played a game of Stargrave yet, so time to fix that and press on.

Recently I’ve been looking at what terrain I have and how it will work with Stargrave. As well as Core Space I have a fare amount of gothic style terrain for Warhammer 40k but ideally I’d rather not have every game of Stargrave looking like 40k or Kill Team.

An Experimental Battlefield

This is a 3×3 table. I’m quite happy with this setup. I don’t think it looks at all like a 40k and it’ll provide plenty of cover during firefights.

Another Earlier More Basic Experimental Table

This experiment was soon after I received 32 black plastic aquarium gravel filters to be used as flooring to see how it would look with some terrain. The idea to used gravel filters was shared on the Stargrave Facebook group by other player and within 5 minutes of seeing this I’d ordered some for myself.

It was a quick and basic setup but looks good.

Going Forward

What is apparent is that I’m lacking buildings. While I have a lot of gothic ruins I don’t really have solid science fiction buildings. I’ve spent some time looking at mdf kits and will probably go with something from Serissa-Precision.

I do have  the Starship Scenery Terrain Crate on order with should provide me an assortment of consoles and containers, to be used for objectives.

I’m also looking at Infinity Terrain from Microart Studios for additional scatter which doesn’t look too expensive.
