Lupa15's Horus Heresy Characters
Assembling the Lion
After much debate over which character to purchase next I finally settled on Lion El’Johnson as he is so regal and is a great character in the novels.

I have got this fella, not even taken him out of the box yet. It’s a beast of a miniature – oh and the Lion is one of my least favourite characters from the HH so he can wait!
Yeah, he is quite a challenge to assemble. Especially with all the sub-assemblies mostly due to the cape. Who is your favorite HH character?
I envy you soooo much right now! I am sure you will do it justice.
Thanks!
Konrad Curze – for me he pretty much sums up the whole narrative of 30 & 40k. A man who initially started out doing what he thought was right, but ultimately recognised there wasn’t a right or a wrong and descended into madness. Alot of ambiguity around if he was mad / split personality / or evil. I like to think he suffered with a split personality and that kinda of gets highlighted a lot at the end of the Konard Curze Night Haunter novel by Guy Hayley. Although as Konrad (in literally terms) is a very unreliable narrator even… Read more »
I know what you mean! They definitely painted the Night Lords in a very villainous light during the HH books. I will have to read the Guy Hayley book though. Thanks for the recommendation!
And I agree with you that the Horus model is stunning! I have had it for a while but haven’t had the courage to start it until I tackled a few others as I really want to do it justice.
Yeah, the NL’s get overlooked a lot I think, I still hope one day GW will give them a codex rather than a few pages here and there! I got Horus and Konrad first, but waited until I had painted Angron (thinking he would be easier) before I tackled either of those two. I have really enjoyed collecting and painting the Primarchs – still got The Lion, Alpharious and Vulkan to finish, and then the Khan when he eventually gets released. I think the trickiest of all the Primarchs to build was probably Sanginius and his scenic base (some of… Read more »
Same! I am have thoroughly enjoyed collecting the Primarchs and other characters! I haven’t purchased Sanginius, Alpharious, Russ or Vulkan yet but they are definitely on my short list.
However I think Sevetar and Garro are the next two I am going to get.
Thanks for the heads up on the Warhipster on Youtube! I am always on the look out for a good painting video and have been experimenting with contrast. I have noticed if used with the other paints you can get some really stunning looking models.
good choices – definitely recommend the Sevatar model, I went with the widows peak sneering head and repurposed his helmet for another Night Lord!
