Robo-werewolf
That’s exactly it! But officially it is called Blue Wolf Mongol Cavalry.
I painted this mini as an entry to Bromad Academy Painting Contest last quarter. It was a crazy run, I received the package on March 25th and sent pictures of finished paintjob on the 31st… and I used some oils in the process.
Anyway, it was mostly painted by airbrush – with my normal mix for the Yu Jing Yellow (orange brown>gold yellow>ice yellow>white and then overall ice yellow glaze), but this time I deepened the shadows with a mixture of yellow ochre and magenta (+some black to desaturate and darken it) and made final light points and edge highlight with some white and chrome yellow mixture.
To add some flare to the model I designed some easy decals.
The it goeas, oh and results of the contest shall be announced next week.
Love your choice of colours for your yu jing. Explains a lot. You get contrast in temperature from the warm yellows and the cooler ice yellow. Don’t think I have read that mix before but I am also forgetful.
Good luck in the contest! Sure you will do well!
Thank you!
You’re quite right about contrast, plus shadows are very saturated, while top highlight is washed out.
