At the end of January and in the throes of Lockdown 3.0 I found myself blessed with more free time than previously afforded, so I decided to start a project for a Knights of the Raven Space Marine army (seen here). Little did I know that soon after I’d be summoned back to work, putting the brakes on my ambition of cranking out units quicker than I have before. I’ll persist, but it’ll be a slow burner instead.

I think it was two weeks ago I decided to create a tutorial for the Librarian’s camo pattern (still in the early stages, sadly), which would be done on an old scout sniper (inspired by zorg ?).  Then, as if the planets had aligned, up popped the Spring Clean article this week, and inspiration hit. Why not, I thought, dig out some more old stuff, join the Spring Clean shenanigans and ultimately bulk the army a little more (not that there’s any semblance of an army yet). I’d given much away in the past so I knew there wouldn’t be a lot left, so below is what I managed to assemble.

These are the remnants I've found so far from a 5th edition Assault on Black Reach set. I'll add more if I find any. These are the remnants I've found so far from a 5th edition Assault on Black Reach set. I'll add more if I find any.

As my scouts were now missing a Sergeant a replacement had to be found, a modicum of cheating was required. In keeping with the spirit of this project I hunted for something pre-owned and as cheap as possible on t'interwebs. So at a total of £3 minus postage I sourced this fella. He's metal and a fraction bigger than the other scouts, but sod it I thought, he's a Sergeant and possibly further along the procedures required to a create a battle brother. As my scouts were now missing a Sergeant a replacement had to be found, a modicum of cheating was required. So, there it is, once again I have things to do and no guarantee of having the time to do it. But I’ll give it a fair shake and if the impossible happens and I get this little lot finished, maybe I’ll add to it if I can find more in my old stash.
