So I was taking a break from painting. I had hopes Defiance would have shipped by now and the only other infinity things I have to paint are some pigs and O-12 Starmada, As I am waiting for the files for defiance to make some more bases for O-12. I started to finish an old terrain project and got pissed off so I bought some shiny new toys!

I realised I was close to completion of the entire code 1 set for Yu Jing. so I got the code 1 tag, remotes and booster pack one. I love yellow so I justified this to myself and bought some models.

I really need more tags in my life I only have one Pano MO tag. I think I must have close to 200 – 300 painted infinity models. How sweaty is the inside of that TAG when all my models come to life when I am not looking and take turns…

This was also a special tag. as it’s for my new love in life Yu Jing.

Sadly things didn’t go as planned. Are very good at making lovely models. They created some stealth mould lines this didn’t show up on the zenith that I done on Saturday when they arrived and I assembled. Sunday morning, birds chirping, painting water refreshed. When I started to paint it become obvious. Tried to surface fill with paint, then with plastic putty. Didn’t work made it a slightly lumpy texture. tried a local scrape and undercoat. it didn’t like that either. Off to the Dettol it went.

Sunday afternoon started to paint found others later as well but they are super fine left them on there. Finished this on Monday night after work.

I pushed myself a little when it came to freehand on this one. This is something I am extremally weak at. This seemed like a good idea because it was all lines and basic shapes. Also the helmet of the TAG was quite soft and flat and requires some freehand in my opinion. It just looked odd without it. Painting hazard stripes freehand is still odd to me I did mask it to start but removed it to man up a little. This is still nerve wracking as it’s a finished model before OSL and freehand… You also don’t want to make it look like a micro child scribbled on it with a crayon…

I think I need to take more risks to get better. The worst possible thing that can happen is that it goes for a Dettol bath and that didn’t hurt me as a kid… but the fear is real.

The base left me a little salty. I couldn’t easily remove the rock to replace it something more thematic. I ended up copping out and sent for crashed piece of rubble on my standard base.

Overall I am quite pleased with the result. There are things I can improve and will improve going forward but as it stands I think this is solid and damn I love yellow.

My diversion cost me as well. I went to take photos of this and realised my scenery wasn’t tall enough for this model. So had to finish that which took ages. Still not 100% pleased with it but it’s nice to have another part done. I now have the basic building sheet.

Nice work! If you want me to scan some of the room tiles so you can start on bases let me know.
