There is a hell of a lot going on with this mini. A construct of broken building, stone, wood and mechanical detritus bound together with moss, and ichor and spewing forth raw sewerage from its orifices. Many textures. Many colours. Many decisions.  I dont know who painted the example mini put forth in the kickstarter campaign, but I now I’m looking at the task I understand better the choices they made. Its difficult to find a different colour composition that works just as well.

One thing that irks me a little about the kickstarter example is the bright green water. Though it portrays the idea of toxic fluid well enough it lacks the thing that is most likely going to be in a London sewer…..shit.  But if I want to go with a more yellow brown fluid I have to amp contrasting colours elsewhere.

Below is a quick pass of thin coats and glazes to get a feel of where I think I want to go. Numbering with colour before I colour by numbers, if you will.

My plan is to make my sewage look like shit. Kahki with moments of yellow, green, and rust . The wood and brick will be basicaly wood and brick. The stone will lean to blue/basalt to add contrast and like the kickstarter example there will eventualy be heaps of moss and ichor to tie it all together..

The work is coming along nicely and the subject matter you have chosen is great.
