With many Americans occupied with the Super Bowl today, I’m taking the opportunity to deep-dive into one my real passions, command-tactical, maneuver-level operations, specficially with the US Marine Corps in Desert Storm.
As you know, the 30th Anniversary of these battles are practically upon us, and just once I wanted to really crank up the scale and game how these battles really took place, at the regiment / brigade level, on a combat board 16 kilometers wide.
The map is scaled to and modeled on the actual battlefield of 1st Marine Division’s vanguard on 25 February 1991 (G-Day +1), with dispositions and opposing forces drawn from modeled from primary sources (US Marine Corps Historical Command and Museum Institute)
You might say this is something of a “super bowl” of historcial modern warfare?
