Well, Necron099 and I have succeeded in hooking a friend of ours on this wonderful game and he wants to start with Ash and Oak.  I had picked up a collection on eBay that included an Ash and Oak starter set which was just looking for a good home. So I decided to paint the minis as well in trade for gaming things he had, a win/win.  The set includes Mary Fearless and Archibald Armstrong leading an Ogre Bruiser, a Housemaid, and a Distant Relative.  Two ogres, one of which can throw cards and a dead-eye markswoman make for a formidable combination.  Add in the flexibility of the relative with the healing power of the maid and you have a great beginning team.  That was my first set as well.

For multiple reasons, I decided on tights rather than the fishnets I painted on mine. For multiple reasons, I decided on tights rather than the fishnets I painted on mine.

The tartan on Mary’s skirt and the Bruisers waistcoat is a nice touch; consider that idea stolen.
Not painting pink underpants with white daisies on the maid is a missed opportunity though 😉
