23rd Steel Legion Regiment - for Epic Armageddon
Fire support on treads and from above
So, the first things I’m adding are these 2 army list entries
- Shadowsword Super-heavy Titan hunter [200 pts]
- Bombard artillery squadron [250 pts]
For now I’ve only painted the base tones and highlights:
- Corax White Primer
- Averland Sunset undercoat (2 thin coats ;))
- Reikland Flesh Shade : Lahmian Medium wash (1:1)
- Highlights
- Averland Sunset
- Averland Sunset + White (2:1)
- Averland Sunset + White (1:2)
- Previous Step + White (1:1)
Next step will be reinforcing the shadows down the side panels with some pin washing of Agrax Earthshade + Lahmian Medium (1:1)
Probably will be doing that tomorrow!
Cheers
Looking forward to see this progress. As a very minor aside I will disagree very slightly with you the ruleset as I thought the previous edition was better
Always nice to see your excellent work on here though
Thanks @torros! I didn’t really like Epic 40k when it came out. I think it was the best starter set ever, though! To me, Epic Armageddon provides a nice middle ground between granularity and streamlining, and that I appreciate a lot. I had started a project of replaying all the Epic rulesets in existence, though 2020 put a hold to that plan. That said, I have replayed Titan Legions/SM2 and found it no longer captures me as it did. I plan to relearn the rules to Epic 40k and play a game sometime this year (when the plague has been… Read more »
It was different to other versions
Jervis Johnson and Andy Chambers still maintain that it was the best set of rules they ever conceived, as it was the game that most rewarded good tactics over luck and special abilities.
I understand they both have defended it that way, yes. I didn’t really like it at the time, though I’m a much older (possibly even wiser) person now. I think they fundamentally misunderstood the Epic community and accidentally killed the game, which was a real shame, as the models they did at the time were absolutely stunning, and many light years better than the previous iterations. Like I said, though, now, a wiser older me that is a remorseless collector of wargames rules, still have them, and I’ve been meaning to give them a go again, and possibly inserting them… Read more »
I think the two games are very similar. Epic 40k was just a little more abstract
Anyways just nice to see people still. Painting and playing it no matter which version there using
Will be following this with keen interest since I’ll be painting my own epic army at some stage!
Nice! I like the scale very much, as it brings me closer to what we read in the books, scope-wise!
