It didn’t take long, drybrush, overbrush with White once or twice, black legs and helmets, muskets, facings, helmets and skin in that order.

I’m considering giving them a light wash with a Black just to make everything stand out a little more but I’m worried about ruining the white Uniforms. Any advice is much appreciated.

Also today is the anniversary of Austerlitz (1805 so it’s the 215th anniversary) which was nice to think about as I was painting these.

Part of the Infantry, I find a Black spray isn't enough so they all get the Brush treatment.Part of the Infantry, I find a Black spray isn't enough so they all get the Brush treatment.
A few sweeps across with a white. This takes maybe 5 seconds per side per strip. After that do the same thing but with Black for the gaiters, then pick out the Black helmets. These weren't proper helmets just leather decorations.A few sweeps across with a white. This takes maybe 5 seconds per side per strip. The Muskets are done with Steel Legion Drab, coming in from the top with a very fine brush then turn over and repeat. The Muskets are done with Steel Legion Drab, coming in from the top with a very fine brush then turn over and repeat.
A close up, there's quite a lot of detail on these guys despite being very small even for 6mmA close up, there's quite a lot of detail on these guys despite being very small even for 6mm
The Rear View, the shading looks very stark on Camera but this is very zoomed in and focused. It looks much nicer in real lifeThe Rear View, the shading looks very stark on Camera but this is very zoomed in and focused. It looks much nicer in real life
Front and Back after Facings (Wrists, Collars and Jackets although at 6mm I've settled for Wrists or Cuffs) and the Yellow on the Helmet. It should have a thin line of Black down the centre of the yellow plume but for obvious reasons I have decided not to include it. Also the front plate would be shiny metal but again for speed and unity I have made it yellow which is very close anyway.Front and Back after Facings (Wrists, Collars and Jackets although at 6mm I've settled for Wrists or Cuffs) and the Yellow on the Helmet. Since these bases are going to be Brigades I've decided to mix up the facing colours as much as possible.Since these bases are going to be Brigades I've decided to mix up the facing colours as much as possible.

Much Better, Once I find something to base them on I'll work out exactly how they'll look but for now I'm going to work on getting the rest to this level.Much Better, Once I find something to base them on I'll work out exactly how they'll look but for now I'm going to work on getting the rest to this level.

Good grief! 6mm Austerlitz? Well at least you won’t have too many minis to paint, Austerlitz was more of a small skirmish than a proper battle. 🙂 🙂 🙂 Seriously, though… great idea for a big project that will keep you busy for a while …

They are looking really good mate

Try Winsor and Newton nut brown wash once the figure is finished. It’s the choice of wash for us 6mm painters
