Forging a Dynasty
Other details
The weapons are based out in Black Templar (about 3 coats) and then all the pipes and glow are done in the colours above. Aside from that there is some gold (Scale 75 Negro Gold) with a thinned Druchii Violet wash and that’s about it. On the larger models I’m doing a black oil pin wash here and there but nothing hugely noticeable. Pretty simple, pretty quick.
Really cool glow effect!
Thank you, that’s the one part I think needs more work but I’m happy with the colour scheme!
Hey man are you doing the glow with an airbrush? I think the effect looks great and I am surprised you are not using a white ink undertone for it.
Yes, using an airbrush and working up from dark to light. I do need to start from a lighter base at the glow source though. I am also playing with re-shading areas to stop it looking so “sprayed”. I’m getting better at it but it’s definitely a learning curve for me at the moment.
Yeah I am doing just white undertone at the source and only using one filter color (Tesseract Glow – undiluted) with pretty good effect. I was thinking of oil washing the areas to give depth rather than respraying for shading though. What airbrush you using?
I’m using a Badger Krome for this. Also have a Patriot for priming and basecoating.
The oil wash would work well over acrylics – I have a lot of oils on the carapaces so the white spirit would take that back off unless I waited a week for it to fully dry…maybe I should!
Very cool! Alright man, keep posting the updates! I’m following your project.
