Emergency Miniature Work - 15mm USMC Super Cobra
Next Stage of "Elimination" - Opel Blitz Trucks
The last vehicles for me to finish in my 28mm DAK Warlord force are the three Opel “Blitz” trucks that came with the pack. I decided not to go with any of the “halftrack” options as I believe these were used in the East, and not in the Desert. Just for fun I used two different side panel options and the canvas cover for the third truck, with medic decals just for a change of pace.
While I really struggled with that armored car and had to repair a lot of damage with it, I’m actually pretty happy with how these trucks came out.
I really love your painting scheme for the DAK vehicles, could you tell me which colours you used? Cheers!
Thanks very much @fleboy – but to be honest I always just use whatever is at the craft store. I’m a very cheap painter – I buy simple acrylics craft paint and mix it myself. For most of these DAK figures I used an 70% “King’s Gold” sunflower yellow, 20% caramel brown, 10% titanium white. One exception – I use Vallejo wash, in this case sepia and umber cut way down with water. Also use Vallejo matte varnish over the decals to get rid of the shine.
I like the weathering effects, they have a nice ‘sun bleached’ look, right for the desert
Thanks very much, @damon – not as nice as those Churchills I remember you had at the Boot Camp! 😀
