Task Force 454 (TF454) is also know as Task Force Mayne and takes its name from a former WW2 commander Lieutenant Colonel Robert Blair “Paddy” Mayne and is a special operations unit under the command of the United Kingdom’s Joint Forces Command (JFC), of which little is publicly known about TFM.

What little information there are states that it was formed in the aftermath of the September 11TH attacks on the US and was one of the first units to enter active service and falls under the categorisation of a special projects team. The core of the unit is made up of members of the 22nd Special Air Service Regiment, ‘A’ Squadron (SAS) but TFM also contains members from the Special Boat Service, ‘M’ Squadron (SBS) and members of the Special Reconnaissance Regiment (SRR).

The TFM in classified documents were reported to be responsible for the cross border raids into Syria from Iraq in October 2014 and aiding forces in the assault on ISIS stronghold of Mosul in 2016 and raids on ISIS-controlled Raqqa in 2017.

TFM is currently believed to be operating and around the Horn of Africa targeting terrorist groups operating in the area as well as operating in its capacity as a Counter-Revolutionary Warfare (CRW) unit inside the United Kingdom especially taking a more active role during the attacks in London during 2017.

TFM is based at Stirling Lines, Hereford, United Kingdom.
