Terrain, it turns out, isn’t my favourite thing to work on. In fact, despite watching hours of youtube content about how great and easy it can be, I find it boring most of the time. In a recent mid-year Community Challenge, I threw away all the recycling that I had been keeping for terrain making and just took up space. This leaves me with a few kits and random pieces that need painted so I’m going to work on those first and see where it goes from there.

What we need here is...

Planning has rarely been part of my terrain kit acquisition process. Most of it has been picked up in army deals, or on the cheap (of free… just to reinforce Scottish stereotypes!).

In terms of what I have armies for and think I could probably get games of in the future, it breaks into generally three categories right now.

  1. Fantasy: mainly Middle-Earth SBG
  2. Sci-fi: 40k and Star Wars Legion. Not ideal to use the same terrain for both but cheapskates don’t often get to be choosers.
  3. WW2: everyone has a Normandy table. Except me. I have some MDF kits though so I could have one.

As I don’t thin there will be much gaming for the rest of the year and I’m more focused on the Paint it or Punt it project, I’m not really working with any priority setting. Whatever kit is on the top of the pile/ fits a gap in the painting queue is what will get done.

Easy watching and easy cleaning

Last night I was watching the Battle Streams in Middle Earth live stream and wanted something to keep my hands busy that wasn’t painting. I grabbed this older GW box that I got given for free by a friend who was clearing out a bunch of stuff. It is missing a few panels but it is more than enough to get started on.
