I tried to employ a new technic with those two. I blacklined them before putting base colour on. It didn’t work too well. They look much sloppier than others painted traditionally.

Still looks good mate! Blending is great. It Would be interesting to try this with dark brown (wash?) rather than black. I am about to paint Yu Jing again soon. think I have forgotten how.

I tried different color with better effect on my Blue Wolf one post above this one. The whole endeavor is caused by my failing eyesight, I noticed that I lose more and more details on my minis and wanted to establish them before applying colors which may obscure them. You’re probably right that wash would work better.
As for your YJ, I can’t wait to see them!
