Humble Beginnings

I got ahead of myself by priming and base coating most of my existing army before taking pictures.
To make up for that I’ve picked up a brand new Mowang soldier and I’ll be showing my process with him.

I’m using two Vallejo surface primers through my Badger Patriot airbrush directly on a cleaned and built Mowang model.

The black is applied from a lower angle, hitting the lower surfaces primarily.
The white is applied from above, hitting primarily the higher surfaces.
The two overlap, of course, making sure the model is covered in a light layer of primer.

Together, these allow you to see volume, shadow, and highlight while you’re painting. This can really help your painting process. Depending on how opaque or heavy your later paints are, this step can directly affect the appearance of later layers as well.
