The previous entry in the project explained palette choice.  Now was time to put the theory into practice.

First step was to paint the fuselage strip.  The area of the fuselage was primed white with an air brush.  This was followed by an airbrush of red paint.  Masking tape was added to cover the strip.

Painting the cameo.

The top surface was airbrushed brown. This was followed with airbrushing green blobs on spots of the brown surface.

Some white blue tack was used to mask the surfaces meant to be brown and green.  This was all the upper/top surfaces.  A black paint was airbrushed over the unmasked areas.

Once the paint dried, the blue tack and masking tape were removed. Some touch up was required in spots.

Paint Details.

Some red paint was used to add red to the narrow panel on top of the wings.

For the windows, a mix of medium blue and light blue was painted and blended.

Metallic paint was added to engine parts, guns, and some random bits.

A dark red, medium red and an orange red was used to paint any thing that looked like lamps.

The bombs were painted a khaki green.  A dark grey was used to pick out the Bombay doors. A black wash was applied.

Lastly the exhaust lines were painted using a light grey and an off white.

Below some pictures of the almost finished.  At this point looking for ways to add some markings.

With the aircraft all painted, it was time to apply some markings.  Some decals of WW2 RAF aircraft were sourced from Warlord Games.

The area for the decal was first painted with watered down gloss clear varnish.  The decals for wing and fuselage were applied.  This was followed by another coat of gloss varnished.

Some touch up of the brown and green was required.  The final step was a coat of Army Painter Anti-Shine was applied to the entire model.

Nice. Love the paint job and the work you put into the Destroyers too. I got a cheap set of the bomber from ebay and was thinking that silver B17 scheme but will admit I’m tempted to try your scheme above. Really nicely done.
