Oh, sure @elessar2590 – as soon as I start playtesting Sons of Liberty v2 again … you start up an American Revolution project. 😀 Not only that, but you decide to “focus on the Battles of New York” … battles we almost universally lost. Just kidding of course. Any American Revolution content is great. 😀 And honestly I’ve seen enough tables and games of Trenton, Princeton, Saratoga, and Cowpens to last a lifetime. Let’s go to New York and see the Patriots have their asses handed to them over and over! Long Island, Kips Bay, Harlem Heights (okay, that one… Read more »
Thanks Jim.
I’m very keen to help out with your Son’s of Liberty. It seems like the best time for me is Monday 8am Brisbane time so Sunday 5pm Florida time but I’ve got to get my internet sorted before I can get back into some online wargaming.
No worries @elessar2590 – and no rush. Playtesting of rules is in the “solo” phase … first game ran last night … Movement is still a little janky but combat, charges, and continuing melee are awesome. Also VERY happy with the way commanders effect the game, special units like American riflemen, grenadiers are tough as nails. So yeah, I just thought it was funny how we both started American Revolution “projects” at almost the same time. I look forward very much to see what you come up with in this project! If you need any research / collaboration on any… Read more »
I would have done Saratoga but my goodness the work involved is just too much.
For the British I would have to remove all the lace which I’m just not going to do. If I don’t remove it then I might as well build an army of Dwarves for Saratoga because in 28mm it would be just as accurate.
@elessar2590 – Yeah Saratoga is not a small one. First of all, WHICH Saratoga, First or Second Freeman’s Farm? And for the Crown you need four friggin’ factions … 1) British regulars (line infantry, regular infantry, grenadiers, artillery at least) … 2) Crown Germans (Hesse-Hanau regiments or dragoons, fusiliers, grenadiers, and jaegers) … 3) Native Iroquois Confederacy (Mohawk and Seneca, mostly). 4) Loyalists of New York Tories and Canadian Rangers. And yes, both First and Second Freeman’s Far were pretty large battles with well over 15,000 total involved (well, large for the American Revolution) in each engagement. Definitely one of… Read more »
