144Artist Explores Lyonesse or My Journeys into Wolsung
A Hostage Situation at the Convention
Since I rarely have space to set up my Wolsung terrain collection I took advantage of the time between games at a recent game convention to take some fun staged shots. It may not come into gameplay but my three wheeled Morgan conversion usually makes several appearances. I think he fits the aesthetic well and as he’s sporting Magoohan’s license plate he must be looking for danger. The gallery is a collection of these shots.
So after the Newbies finished their tutorial game, Necron099 and I prepared for a long awaited one on one. Since my Ashe and Oak cards and minis were already out I decided to run them. They have served me well against the questionable machinations of his crazed Inventor’s Club so I was feeling pretty good. Once we had finished I saw he had out some odd terrain pieces and realized I was going to have to face the shambling undead hordes that are the Van Rier. I won’t lie, Necro-Golems freak me out a bit. Big blades, big guns, AND undead. The fact that they are beautifully painted in Color Shifting paints by Necron099 makes them even more unsettling. It was the Strigoi I really should have been afraid of but we will get to that in a moment.
It was a great game!
The terrain looks incredible; it must have been a joy to play on such a nice board.
I feel inspired to get back to working on my own Wolsung buildings; got a big box full of HDF sitting in the attic.
I have found that painting the parts, using craft paints, before assembly helps me get them done quicker. Once they are assembled I do the details and touch up. I also keep things simple so I don’t have to make too many decisions. Such nice kits and they look so good they really do add a lot to my enjoyment of any game.
