Took some time yesterday and this morning to finish off and take a snap of the final look for Elric with the basing done.
I went with some flowers, snow and grass on the base to act as a little bit of a contrast to the model then threw a bit of blood into the mix to show that he’s been cutting down some fool who decided to stand in his way.
I’m sure that I could have done more with the model but for me, I think this has been a good reintroduction into actually painting/finishing a model!
A fun model to paint and one which certainly tested my patience when it came to painting black!
I think the cloak has come out really well to be fair. I think when it comes to highlighting black, it’s always a toss up between grey highlights and blue highlights. Grey always seems to work better on cloth and blues on Metals. The only thing I would have considered, is maybe a bigger base, this might have shown off a bit more of the scene around him – but then it just depends if this is going to be a game piece or just a display piece. Cheers – yeah I am slowly getting the hang of it. I used to do black with a drybrush of blue and grey over the top of the model but didn’t get round to doing it this time haha.
I did consider a bigger base too with a few skeletons or something all over the place but I think I just wanted to get it finished. It’s something I might consider next time I do one of these characters.
