Ambition Vs Reality

So, you’ve just made that snap decision to take the plunge and begin replacing all those Gloomhaven standees with lovely miniatures. I think it’s worth having a quick reality check at this point – here’s some numbers for you;

  • There’s 240 monster standees in Gloomhaven
  • These are split into 34 different monster types and 13 bosses
  • 8 monsters have 10 standees each
  • 21 monsters have 6 standees each
  • 5 monsters have 4 standees each

If we look at this in isolation then you’re looking at ‘only’ 240 models to complete the set….

In For a Penny......

Most sane people would probably have looked at that those numbers and at least thought twice about investing in what is essentially a totally unnecessary endeavour.  After all, the standees are more than perfectly serviceable, they have some great art and fit the theme of the game and other components perfectly. There’s also the fact that this is ‘just’ a board game and has a limited shelf-life when compared to, say, an army of tiny fighting men.

As I say most sane people would do this… I obviously need help!!  Instead of taking a step back and asking ‘do I really need / want to do this?’ I allowed my mind to dream, and the next little ‘great idea’ popped into my brain – why not have different mini’s for the Elite versions of each monster?….. sure, why not? !!!

So with this little epiphany our model count suddenly jumps from at least 240 to…… at least 308 (if we want 2 ‘Elite’ versions of each monster).  Feel free to add an additional 34 to this for each extra set of Elites you might like to have because, y’know, it’s only money!!!

Yup, great idea that one…..

Pre-Emptive Spoiler Warning For Next Update

The next update will contain potential spoilers if you don’t want to know what the names of the monsters and bosses in Gloomhaven are. I’m adding Spoiler warnings to this entry as well as the bottom and top of the next one so if you don’t want to know what they will be feel free to either skip the next update or simply make sure you only ready from the top of it.

If you do somehow inadvertently see something you don’t want to I apologise in advance – I’m trying to make it as difficult for that to happen as possible.
