“Beware the Jabberwock, my son!”
The Inspiration
So, over the Festive Period I watched for the umpteenth time Terry Gilliam’s Jabberwocky. I appreciate that this film is not to everyone’s taste, but it got me thinking about introducing a monster based Warcry war band led by a beastmaster. To keep with the usual GW restrictions of only using Citadel or Forge World Miniatures (just in case this ends up being an Army on Parade), I’ve plumped for the Jabberslythe to in effect become the Jabberwocky. I’ve also got a cockatrice, some skin wolves and a Merwyrm, all or some of which may appear in the final war band. I was contemplating a Forge World Magma Dragon, but discovered that FW appear to be retiring the AoS fantasy models which is a real shame because I don’t really want to pay x3 or x4 times the original price via eBay! Anyhow, this is the start…
I have often thought that a Jabberwock is a creature that doesn’t appear nearly enough in wargames / miniature from.
Hats off to you for this project.
I’m also a big fan of the film 🙂
Hi thedace many thanks for your kind words. I’m trying to reduce my mountain of unpainted minis collected over 40 years! The Jabberslythe kit is the nearest to the Jabberwocky that I could find that looked suitably large. The old citadel one although closer in appearance is really small. Sir Errol is one of my favourite minis and it just seemed apt to put something old with something new and try to imagine a story through the minis. Thanks again. Cockatrice next. ??
