Unlimited Power: X-Wing 2.0 Rules Draft

The following rules detail the various effects of the Unlimited Power token, a new terrain piece I am proposing that would be approximately the size of a maneuver dial.

Please only continue reading if you have seen the latest star wars film (Rise of Skywalker) or are not concerned with reading spoilers related to its plot.

Palpatine using his lightning to harass and hinder an entire fleet of rebel fighters and bombers warmed the darkest parts of my heart. I was very excited to see the force develop into a broader parallel of fantasy magic, with Palpatine finally ascending into the ultimate BBEG Necromancer.

Let’s get cracking on the rules.

This token would be placed at the center of the board prior to deployment. A unit is effected by the token if it begins a turn within one of the designated radii below. The effects are cumulative, if you are in Range 1 you are simultaneously also in Range 2 and 3.

Range 1: Only blue maneuvers can be chosen for all ships within Range 1 of the Unlimited power token.

Range 2: All maneuvers generate a stress token and no stress tokens may be removed or shifted to another ship while within this Range.

Range 3: Blue Maneuvers no longer remove stress tokens.

If you would like to see a more offensive / damaging effect consider replacing the Range 1 rules above with the following:

Alt Range 1: Selecting a non-Blue maneuver while within Range 1 of the token triggers an attack against the unit. This attack is a single attack die, with the target unable to roll ANY defense dice.

Thanks for reading and happy hobby!

Great idea and might have to try it! It would probably be even more cool in Armada…but I don’t play Armada.
